OR, Fine-tune the crop — drag and position the photo, use Center Face to auto-position, Straighten to align to your eye line, and click Apply. You can also use Extend Background to fill any gaps, and Remove Background after applying.
Check the Photo Analysis panel — it shows whether your eyes are open, expression is neutral, and head is straight, with hints to correct any issues.

Simple Mode uses a lightweight AI model (~1 MB) that runs almost instantly on any device (including older mobile phones). It is great for clean edges and straightforward photos. High Quality Mode uses a larger, advanced AI model (~26 MB) to capture fine details like individual hair strands and handles complex or cluttered backgrounds much better. It takes slightly longer to process.
Use High Quality (default) if your photo has loose hair, complex patterns in the background, or if you need professional-grade edges. Use Simple if you are on an older mobile device that struggles with memory, if you have a slow internet connection (since it doesn't need to download the larger model), or if you are wearing headgear/glasses where clean, sharp geometric edges are preferred.
You can toggle between them using the floating image icon button located at the bottom-right corner of the editor canvas (right above the face markers button) or within the background removal card. Clicking the button will switch modes and show a brief notification (e.g. "High quality background removal active" or "Simple background removal active") confirming the change.
If the High Quality mode fails due to device memory constraints or browser limitations, the tool will automatically fall back to the Simple mode, ensuring you still get a background-removed photo without any disruption.
